Xbox has just announced Xbox Game Pass. Think Playstation Now, but half the price and no streaming.
As Xbox gears up to show us what exactly Project Scorpio is, they’ve decided to wet our appetites with the Xbox Game Pass. It’s essentially a gaming subscription that will be available this spring, that will give you unlimited access to over 100 Xbox One games and backward compatible Xbox 360 games – all for the cheap price of $9.99.
Tons of publishers are involved including 2K, 505 Games, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment, Capcom, Codemasters, Deep Silver, Focus Home Interactive, SEGA, SNK CORPORATION, THQ Nordic GmbH, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Microsoft Studios. Games include Halo 5: Guardians, NBA 2K16 and SoulCalibur 2. Payday 2 is listed in the release but the less we talk about that game the better.
Where Playstation Now makes players stream the game, which often results in less than stellar experience, Xbox Game Pass will download the full titles to your hard drive. It’s also worth noting that all related add-ons like DLC will be available to purchase at an exclusive discount for Xbox Game Pass members.
You can expect new games every month which should you plenty of reasons to avoid getting tanned and dangerous this summer.
Xbox Game Pass is slowing rolling out to select Xbox Insider Program members starting today with a very limited number of titles. Xbox Live Gold members will receive exclusive access to Xbox Game Pass prior to the program launching this spring.
For more details check the Xbox Wire. I’m pretty excited for this out of no where announcement!
