Woohoo! PS4 Video Editing Features Get Major Upgrade

Do you like to show off your gameplay footage from your PS4 but find it could use some tweaking? Well, you’re in luck, because with today’s new update uploading your Uncharted 4 walkthrough has never been easier!

Many users use a game capture device, I have one sitting next to me right now, but I tend to fall back on the PS4’s native app. With these changes, I’ll be uploading much more video content in the coming months. Here’s a look at some of the new options.

Sony updated its Share Factory software today to version 1.08, which brings with it these noteworthy changes:

  • The commentary track has been replaced with a more expansive second track, allowing you to layer two videos for picture-in-picture
  • Video exports can now be as long as 60 minutes, though recording times are still 15 minutes.
  • Videos can now be uploaded while lounging in the home screen
  • Chroma-key support has been added, meaning green and white screens can be used in collaboration with your PlayStation Camera to splice in animated backgrounds, screen shots, and built-in art

Some other features include, saving commentary, 15 new filter effects, new music, and the ability to rotate text.

Sure it’s not the same as recording to the PC but it is a hell of a lot more convient for many people. Hopefully Sony will lift the 15 minute recording time and allow for recording in 1080p. We will probably hear more next week at E3.
