The Witcher 3 Now Runs At 60 FPS On The Xbox One X

It’s time to head back to the Continent.

The Xbox One X update for The Witcher 3 dropped today and gives players a choice of 60 FPS performance or 30 FPS at 4K.

Players who download the update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to their Xbox One X will find a new “advanced” option in their display settings menu. Here they can choose between “4K Mode” and “Performance Mode.”

Performance mode will dial down the visual effects and introduce dynamic resolution scaling in order to hit a smooth 60 frames per second target. It’s similar to the scaling Bethesda used in their Fallout 4 Xbox One X enhanced update. Essentially it slides between 1080p and 4K to keep the frames rolling high.

I just arrived in Vancouver for the holidays so I’ve haven’t been able to dive in but I have my Xbox One X here and I can’t wait to see the difference. It’s been over a year since I last played The Witcher 3 and I’m eager to jump back in. It remains one of my favorite games of all time.

Is this update enough to bring you back? Sound off in the comments below.
