You can never have enough usernames and passwords right guys?! The answer is apparently not as Nintendo has announced the need for yet another way to sign in on the Nintendo platform.
You might be thinking you already have a Nintendo Account and you’re good to go but the reality is you are probably not. Here’s what your Switch username is not:
- A Nintendo Account: The e-mail and password combination through which you access the great majority of Nintendo services.
- Nickname: However you want to be referred to by Nintendo services, i.e. your first name.
- Nintendo Network ID: How Nintendo users interfaced with the Wii U’s and 3DS’s eShop and Miiverse.
Just just because you’ve been playing Mario Run on your phone and rocking the same email login/Nintendo Network ID (NNIDs) for years on your WiiU you’re going need to enter into your Nintendo Account and add a username. Under settings just look for USER ID and enter away.
Apparently some internet commentors are saying they had to pick a username for the Nintendo mobile games, but I’ve played them all and never been given that option.
This all feels very confusing and I would guess that the NNIDs is being replaced by a simpler username. That would make the most sense!
Better hurry up and grab a name you like before they are all gone. I tried inputting GMILFHUNTER69 but it was already taken. Sigh. There’s always Nintendo’s next console, the SwitcherUU.
