Netflix Unveils An All New Kind Of Superhero Show

Netflix has brought some classic comic book stories to the small screen, but they are tackling a whole new beast with the upcoming series Raising Dion.

Raising Dion is based on an indie comic by Dennis Liu and tells the story of a single, hard-working black mother raising her young, metahuman son. The Netflix series will focus on the mom’s day to day life trying to teach her son how to control his special powers while also evading a government agency hunting them down.

This is a superhero story we haven’t seen on screen yet and I’m really excited. The trailer below is for the comic book and not the series but I’m incredibly excited.

Dennis Liu has been ramping up PR for the show and had this to say about the series:

“More than ever, we need more stories told from different points of view and my hope with Raising Dion is to create a cinematic experience for all families that will lift your spirits and make you laugh and cry.”

Raising Dion is being produced by MACRO with American Gods (The best show of 2017) showrunner Michael Green who is attached to write and produce. Michael B. Jordan (FUCK YEAH) has also been cast in an unnamed supporting role.

No release date has been given.
