Knight Rider Lego Dimensions Pack Review

Knight Rider has joined the ever evolving Lego Dimensions line up and if you’re feeling nostalgic or just a fan of bad 80’s TV then this pack for you.

Knight Rider is a show that aired from 1982 – 1986 and was of course revived shortly on NBC for one season in 2008. I never grew up watching Knight Rider, it was way before my time, but I would catch reruns as a kid. It’s peak 80s feel good TV complete with David Hasselhoff as the lead.

Hasselhoff plays Michael Knight, a high-tech modern crime fighter assisted by KITT, an advanced artificially intelligent, self-aware and nearly indestructible car. Whenever I think of Knight Rider I think the Simpsons, when Homer becomes obsessed with TV show Knightboat. I’m not sure how big of a demand for Knight Rider there still is but after playing through the LEGO Dimensions Fun Pack I want to spend a weekend doing nothing but watching Knight Rider on TV.

You must remember these Fun Packs contain no story levels. All you have access to is a hub-like ‘adventure world’ filled with sub-quests and four-player co-op arenas.

The sub-quests have you taking on some fan favorite characters such as K.A.R.R. and Goliath the truck while driving around in constantly fading bright orange sunset or star-filled night sky. The Knight Rider vibe is intact, and it feels very much like the A-Team pack from last year. The music is great and David Hasselhoff has provided his voice for the game, but there are very few actual lines of dialogue. To put it bluntly, playing as Michael Knight isn’t much fun. He doesn’t have any special abilities other than jumping and punching.

It’s a much better experience leaving Michael Knight on the sidelines and picking your favorite characters to ride KITT. KITT is almost as cool as the DeLorean from Back To The Future.

If you’re a fan of Knight Rider than of course you’re going want to grab this kit, but if you’re a child of the 90’s like me, it’s probably best you wait this one out. Well that is unless you really want to recreate the whole hamburger on the floor incident via LEGO. Don’t worry I’ll only judge you a tad.
