Kingdom Hearts 3 Has A Release Window And New Gameplay

kingdom hearts 3

Here’s our yearly reminder that yes Kingdom Hearts 3 is a real thing and it might be coming soon. According to the latest trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3 which shows off the new Toy Story world, the game is scheduled for release sometime in 2018.

Kingdom Hearts director Tai Yasue told Kotaku way back in 2012 that his dream was to create a Toy Story world one day. It looks like he finally got his wish. The Toy Story world looks incredible and I’m all for an angry Woody!

It’s also worth noting that the three members per battle from previous games has been removed to allow for more characters on the screen. We see both Donald and Goofy ready for battle with Buzz Lightyear and Woody fighting alongside them. No more need to switch characters. If you remember the clip shown just before E3 we also saw a team of four fighting that included Hercules, Sora, Donald, and Goofy. Party switching has always been annoying in Kingdom Hearts especially near end game so this is a really great change.

I’m a huge fan of the Kingdom Hearts series and have been replaying the series on the PS4 thanks to the recently released 1.5 and 2.5 bundle. I’ve been waiting for KH3 since it was announced way back in 2013. I’m ok with waiting as there is so much story and plot holes that this game should hopefully fill. The longer the wait, the better the product hopefully. I have faith.

Kingdom Hearts 3 will hopefully launch in 2018 on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
