Empty Your Wallets For These Games In June

Going to the beach is overrated. You end up with sand in your shoes and instead of getting “tanned and dangerous” you end up looking like a lobster. Why spend all day sweating in the sun when you could plop yourself on your couch with a bag of chips, a box of Mike ‘n’ Ikes and some of June’s hottest video games.

This month is definitely going make you broke. There’s an AAA title every week this month including some heavily anticipated titles. I’m looking at you No Man’s Sky. I could see it becoming one of the highest grossest games of the year, and that’s no easy task. There’s some stiff competition this year.  I’m going try and get my hands on as many of these games as I can. With a trip to San Fransisco planned and a week at E3, I have no idea when I’ll be playing them but I’ll try!

No Man’s Sky

Release Date: June 21st, 2016
Platform: PS4, PC

The game we’ve all been waiting for.  Is the wait worth it? I really hope so. Better tell that girl I’ve been seeing I won’t be answering her calls anymore after June 21st. Sorry bae.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst

Release Date: June 7th, 2016
Platform: Xbox One, PS4, PC

This reboot of 2008’s Mirrors Edge puts you in the shoes of Faith once again as she attempts to overthrow a hostile corporate government who rules the city of glass. Focused on Faith’s origins, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst not only has free-running and parkour elements found in the previous game but also showcases a new open world element as well as an entirely overhauled combat system that focuses on martial arts and melee rather than gunplay. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will show you where Faith’s journey began. I’m not familiar with the original but early buzz is very promising. Except a review for Mirror’s Edge soon.

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Release Date: June 28th, 2016
Platform: Xbox One, PS4, PC, 3DS, WiiU, PS Vita, PS3, Xbox 360

If you’ve been a reader of this site for a while, you will know I love the Lego Star Wars games. The Force Awakens is shaping up to be the best one yet. It’s got the cast of the movie providing the voices and stories that didn’t make the final cut. I can’t wait to lose myself in a galaxy, far, far, away.

Star Ocean V: Integrity and Faithlessness

Release Date: June 28th, 2016
Platform: PS4, PS3

It’s been 7 years since the last Star Ocean game and this one looks absolutely stunning compared to Star Ocean: The Last Hope. The newest entry showcases an all-new cast of characters, seamless transition between exploration and combat and of course shiny graphics. I’ll be losing hours of my life on this.

Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir

Release Date: June 7th, 2016
Platform: PS4, PS3, PS Vita

Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir is an HD Remake of the highly praised Playstation 2 game Odin Sphere, which is based on Norse Mythology and showcases the stories of five different individuals who show differing perspectives on the beginnings of the Norse Ragnarok. This action RPG remake showcases new HD artwork, new stages, combat enhancements (with an option to play with the original, unaltered game mechanics of Odin Sphere) as well as new English voiceovers exclusive to Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE

Release Date: June 24th, 2016
Platform: WiiU

WiiU owners can dust off their consoles and figure out how to use their controller when Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE drops. The game is a mix of Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem and sounds incredibly promising.

Mighty No. 9

Release Date: June 21st, 2016
Platform: Xbox One, PS4, PC, 3DS, WiiU, PS Vita, PS3, Xbox 360

The game fans of Mega Man have been waiting for actually has a release date and all signs point to it actually coming out in June. Might No. 9 sees players take control of Beck; an android who must save the world after a virus attacks all of the world’s machines, including his fellow androids. I loved Mega Man as a kid and will absolutely be picking this up.

Umbrella Corps

Release Date: June 21st, 2016
Platform: PS4, PC

Umbrella Corps is an all new spin-off of the Resident Evil Series of video games, and up until now I’d never heard of it. This one could go either way and unfortunately lacks a single player. It’s a multiplayer only competitive shooter that puts players in the role of mercenaries from one of two different corporations, both of which tasked with finding the Umbrella Corporation’s secrets, as well as eliminating the other corporation’s mercenaries. The gameplay does look mighty fun, but I won’t be rushing to pick this one up.

Let me know on Twitter what you plan on picking up and what you think is going score highest on Metacritic. I’m thinking Star Ocean is going land somewhere in the high 9s if it actually comes out on time.
